CUSTOMER – Rheinmetall Defence Australia
Purpose
PMG has partnered with Rheinmetall Defence Australia (RDA) to supply prototype brackets and machined parts in accordance with the design specifications provided by RDA. The parts manufactured and delivered to RDA were fitted to the 1st Boxer (Combat Reconnaissance vehicle) delivered to the Commonwealth of Australia in September 2019.
How it works
From the early quotation & prototype stages PMG were faced with several challenges, such as finding the right material within Australia and finding the suppliers internationally for special miscellaneous parts. PMG overcame these challenges by partnering with both national & international suppliers in order to deliver the project successfully by addressing project risks, on-time delivery & targeted costs.
Features
Scope included precision laser cutting of sheet metal, specialised welding (MiG and TiG), precision machining of parts, powder coating, assembly, inspection and quality control.
Task
PMG manufactured, assembled and delivered a total of 72 different parts, with multiple quantities per part, for the Combat vehicle. PMG was successful in delivering to RDA in Queensland with the targeted quality requirements.
